House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer (R-Ky.) announced the discovery of recurring payments from Hunter Biden, son of President Joe Biden, to his father. This revelation has sparked a heated debate on whether this is a case of familial support or evidence of political corruption.
Comer stated, “Payments from Hunter’s business entity to Joe Biden are now part of a pattern revealing Joe Biden knew about, participated in, and benefited from his family’s influence peddling schemes”.
The payments, worth $1,380 per month, were discovered through subpoenaed bank records. Republicans, led by Comer, suggest that these payments are evidence of corruption and influence peddling within the Biden family. They argue that this discovery could be grounds for impeachment.

“The truth is Hunter’s father helped him when he was struggling financially due to his addiction and could not secure credit to finance a truck. When Hunter was able to, he paid his father back and took over the payments himself”, Lowell said in a statement.

The Republicans have alleged that Joe Biden has received millions in bribes through his son, who had financial relationships with foreign nationals in China, Ukraine, and elsewhere. On the other hand, Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Md.) accused Comer of “digging up old public reporting, distorting the facts” and recycling theories about Joe Biden’s alleged corruption first promulgated by former President Donald Trump and his attorney, Rudy Giuliani.
