Gal Gadot Global Response to Hamas Oct 7 Attack and Women’s Rights

Israeli actress, Gal Gadot, recently expressed her deep concern and distress over the plight of women in conflict zones. In a heartfelt message shared on her social media platforms, she lamented that the “world has failed women”, referring specifically to those who were tragically targeted and lost their lives in the attack on Israel by Hamas on October 7.

In her post, she urged the United Nations, as a global organization responsible for maintaining international peace and security, to intervene. She demanded that the UN exert its influence to ensure that Hamas releases every female hostage.

The acclaimed actress recently expressed her profound concern and outrage on Instagram, sharing a powerful message that read, “The world has failed the women of October 7th. We claim we stand against rape, violence against women. We will not let women be victimized and then silenced. We say we believe women. Stand with women. Speak out for women.”

Shani Louk, a 23-year-old German woman, tragically became a victim of the violent conflict when she was captured and subsequently killed by Hamas operatives. She was attending the Supernova music festival near the Gaza border, an event that unfortunately turned into a target of a surprise attack by Hamas on October 7.

In a heartfelt tribute to Shani, the actress expressed her deep sorrow and outrage over the horrifying incident.

She said, “On October 7th, the world bore witness to Hamas executing its violent plans in real time. Merely hours after the attack, a blood-curdling video surfaced, showing Shani Louk being paraded in a state of undress and subjected to unspeakable humiliation by her captors who took perverse pride in their actions.”

The globally recognized actress, best known for her role as ‘Wonder Woman’, has made a fervent appeal to the world to take immediate action and demand the release of all female hostages.

She wrote, “This is our moment as women and allies of women to act. I am beseeching all those who have done so much for women’s rights globally from the UN, to the human rights community to please join in the demand that Hamas release every single woman hostage immediately – not after the next round of international mediation. Not after another day. These women cannot survive another moment of this horror.”

Gal Gadot, has been forthright in expressing her solidarity with her homeland during a time of crisis. The conflict has tragically resulted in the loss of approximately 1,200 lives, a majority of whom were civilians. In addition, around 240 individuals were taken hostage, as reported by Israeli authorities.

The situation escalated further with Israel launching a heavy bombardment and ground offensive on Gaza. This aggressive retaliation has led to an alarming death toll of over 15,500 individuals. The Hamas-run health ministry in Gaza reports that a staggering 70% of these casualties were women and children.

In November, Gal Gadot found herself at the center of controversy following her decision to organize a screening in Hollywood. The film, titled “Bearing Witness,” was a 47-minute documentary that shed light on the atrocities committed by Hamas during an unexpected attack on Israel on October 7.

The footage for this film was provided by the Israeli Defence Forces and included some extremely graphic and violent scenes, some of which were filmed by members of Hamas themselves. Despite being the organizer, Gal Gadot chose not to attend the screening in person.

Gal Gadot, who has a history of service in the Israeli Defence Forces prior to her successful acting career, has yet to release a public statement addressing the recent controversies. This silence has not gone unnoticed, with numerous individuals criticizing her for not acknowledging the Palestinian casualties and the severe hardships endured by the residents of Gaza.
