India Dominates Day 5 of Asian Games with Gold in Shooting, Silver in Wushu, and Victory in Hockey

Hangzhou, China – India continued its impressive performance at the 2023 Asian Games on Day 5, winning gold in shooting, silver in wushu, and defeating Japan in hockey.

The Indian shooting team continued its dominance of the Asian Games, winning gold in the men’s 10m air pistol team event. The trio of Sarabjot Singh, Arjun Singh Cheema, and Shiva Narwal shot a combined score of 1720 to finish ahead of China and South Korea. This was India’s sixth gold medal of the Games.

Roshibina Devi Naorem won a silver medal in the women’s 60kg sanda event at the 2023 Asian Games. She lost to China’s Li Wen in the final, but her silver medal was India’s first in wushu at the Asian Games since 2010.

The Indian men’s hockey team defeated Japan 4-2 in their Pool A match at the 2023 Asian Games. India scored three goals in the first half through Harmanpreet Singh (2) and Mandeep Singh. Japan pulled two goals back in the second half, but Shamsher Singh sealed the victory for India with a goal in the final minute of the match.

The Indian team was disappointed with the result, but they can take some pride in their performance. They played against a very strong Saudi Arabian team and created a number of chances. However, they simply were not able to convert their chances and were ultimately punished by the Saudis.
