Israeli Hostage Held in Gaza Strip: Hamas Releases Video

The Jerusalem Post reported: On Monday, the Hamas terrorists released a video that purportedly shows an Israeli hostage held in the Gaza strip. The Israeli military spokesman has dismissed the video as “a part of a psychological war” by Hamas. The Israel-Hamas war broke out last week, and the situation remains tense with airstrikes pounding Gaza overnight and Israeli troops searching for hostages.

In a recent video footage released by Hamas on their Telegram channel, the hostage can be seen receiving medical treatment for her injured hand at an unknown location, possibly in Gaza.

In the video, introducing herself as Mia Shem a 21 year old from Shoham, and provides an update on her condition. She says that she underwent surgery in Gaza after getting her arm broken and that she is being taken care of. She further pleaded with Israeli authorities to bring her home as soon as possible.

Jerusalem Post: “Hi, I’m Mia Shem, 21 years old from Shoham. Currently, I’m in Gaza. I returned early Saturday morning from Sderot; I was at a party. I was seriously injured in my hand. I underwent surgery on my hand at the hospital [in Gaza] for 3 hours. They are taking care of me, giving me medicine, everything is fine.” She earnestly pleads for her release, longing to reunite with her parents as soon as possible.

“I only ask to bring me home to my parents and go home as soon as possible. Get me out of here as soon as possible. Please,” she says.

The video was posted on Hamas’s Arabic Telegram channel and was captioned: “Mujahideen from the Al-Qassam Brigades provide medical care to a female prisoner in Gaza, who was captured on the first day of the Al-Aqsa Flood battle,” according to the Jerusalem Post. The video features a 21-year-old Israeli woman named Mia Shem, who was abducted by Hamas militants in Gaza along with at least 199 other civilians and soldiers from Israel earlier this month.

On October 7, Hamas gunmen captured at least 199 Israelis and foreigners in a surprise multipronged assault on Israel. This attack resulted in the highest number of casualties in a single day in Israel’s 75-year history. The Israeli military has confirmed that Hamas is holding at least 199 hostages in Gaza, and all families have been notified of their identities. The hostages include soldiers and civilians, including Americans and other foreign nationals. The attack resulted in the death of 1,300 people, making it the deadliest day in Israel’s history.

The situation is tense, and Israel has announced a “siege” of Gaza – cutting its supplies of electricity, fuel, food, goods, and water. It says the siege will not end until Israeli hostages are released.

In a recent video released by Hamas, the group attempted to portray itself as a humane entity by referring to non-Israeli hostages as “guests” who would be released “when circumstances allow.” However, the Israeli military has rejected this portrayal and accused Hamas of being responsible for the abduction and murder of innocent people, including babies, women, children, and the elderly. The Israeli military’s statement highlights the gravity of the situation and underscores the need for a peaceful resolution to the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas.
