Terror in Jerusalem: 3 Dead, 8 Injured in Shooting Attack

On Thursday morning, the city of Jerusalem was shaken by a sudden act of violence. Two Palestinian targeted a bus stop at the city’s entrance during the peak rush hour. The unsuspecting crowd was caught off guard as the attackers opened fire.

The Israeli police confirm that at least three innocent lives were lost in the attack. And eight other individuals suffered injuries.

“The terrorists arrived at the scene by car in the morning, armed with an M-16 rifle and a handgun,” police said. “The terrorists began shooting at civilians before subsequently being killed at the scene.”

The shooters, who hailed from East Jerusalem, were halted in their tracks by off-duty soldiers who happened to be in the surrounding area at the time of the attack. A civilian, who found himself caught in the midst of the chaos, also played a crucial role in stopping the attackers. This information was later confirmed by the police.

The chilling moments of the attack were captured on security camera footage and later broadcasted by Israel’s Channel 12 television. The footage showed a white car pulling up next to a bus stop teeming with people. As the car came to a stop, two men emerged from the vehicle, their guns already drawn, ready to unleash terror.

Without a moment’s hesitation, they charged towards the crowd. The peaceful morning was abruptly disrupted as people scattered in all directions. Desperately trying to escape the impending danger, later on they were gunned down.

Cabinet minister Benny Gantz wrote on social media platform X.

“This attack is further proof for our commitment to continue fighting with strength and determination against the murderous terrorism that threatens our citizens,”

In the early hours of the morning, as the city was just beginning to stir with commuters starting their day, an incident occurred that required immediate attention. A significant number of first responders and security personnel swiftly converged on the scene, demonstrating their readiness to handle such situations.

The police, in collaboration with other security forces, worked diligently to manage the situation. They reassured the public that they were making every effort to reopen the street, minimizing disruption to the city’s routine.

U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken addressed the recent shooting incident that occurred on Thursday. He expressed his deep concern, stating that the incident served as a stark reminder of the constant threat of terrorism that Israel and its citizens face each day.

A significant development unfolded between Israel and Hamas. In a last-minute decision on Thursday, both parties agreed to extend their existing six-day ceasefire in Gaza by an additional day.

The additional day was intended to provide negotiators with the much-needed time to continue their discussions on a critical issue – the exchange of hostages held in the coastal enclave of Gaza for Palestinian prisoners.
