In the upcoming third GOP debate for the 2024 United States presidential election, five candidates – Chris Christie, Ron DeSantis, Nikki Haley, Vivek Ramaswamy, and Tim Scott – are set to take the stage on Wednesday night, while Donald Trump continues his boycott, setting the stage for a night of intense political discourse and strategy unveiling.

The former governor of New Jersey, Chris Christie, is expected to leverage his experience as a governor and focus on his campaign slogan “Because the Truth Matters”. Christie, who announced his candidacy on June 6, 2023, has been emphasizing the importance of truth and transparency in politics.

He stated, “I’m running for President of the United States because the truth still matters. We need leaders that are willing to stand up and tell it like it is.”

He also criticized Trump’s leadership, saying, “He’s a failed leader. We gave him a Republican House, a Republican Senate, and he failed … he failed us by losing the House, by losing the Senate, and by turning over the White House to Joe Biden.”

The current governor of Florida, Ron DeSantis, announced his candidacy on May 24, 2023. Known for his strong stance on key social issues such as abortion, DeSantis’s campaign is centered around leading the “Great American Comeback”.

He said, “We will move on day one by declaring a national emergency. We will construct a border wall. We will make sure we have remain-in-Mexico… And we really need to hold the Mexican drug cartels accountable because they’re facilitating a lot of this migration.”

He also expressed his support for Bitcoin, stating, “You have every right to do Bitcoin. The only reason these people in Washington don’t like it is because they don’t control it. And they’re central planners, and they want to have control over society. And so Bitcoin represents a threat to them.”

The former governor of South Carolina and former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, Nikki Haley, is another strong contender. Haley, who launched her campaign on February 14, 2023, is expected to focus on foreign policy, economic, and immigration issues.

She said, “I see a strong America – full of opportunity, that lifts up everyone, not just a select few. I see a proud America – confident in who we are, and what we stand for. And I see America leading the world – in freedom and peace.”

She also expressed her concerns about socialism, stating, “We must stop socialism before it’s too late.”

Vivek Ramaswamy, an entrepreneur and commentator, is known for his unique approach to politics. Ramaswamy, who launched his campaign on February 21, 2023, advocates for an extensive and severe downsizing of federal agencies and opposes affirmative action.

He said, “We will declare our economic independence from the failed elites that have orchestrated American decline, from the reckless federal spending that has inflated prices and plunged this nation to the brink of bankruptcy.”

He also mentioned, “There is a radical movement on the far left, and the more progress that America makes on race, the more some leaders want to deny it.”

U.S. Senator from South Carolina, Tim Scott, announced his candidacy on May 22, 2023. Scott’s campaign is focused on restoring America’s “culture of greatness”.

He said, “I choose freedom and hope and opportunity,” and “We need a president who persuades not just our friends and our base” but seeks “commonsense” solutions and displays “compassion for people who don’t agree with us.”

The 45th President of the United States, Donald Trump, announced his candidacy on November 15, 2022. His campaign is focused on making America great again.

He said, “So from now until election day in 2024, which will come very quickly … I will fight like no one has ever fought before.” He also criticized the Biden administration, stating, “Under Biden and the radical Democrats, America has been mocked, derided, and brought to its knees, perhaps like never before.”

The debate, scheduled for Wednesday night, will be moderated by “Nightly News” anchor Lester Holt, “Meet the Press” moderator Kristen Welker, and “The Hugh Hewitt Show” host Hugh Hewitt. Each candidate will be given a chance to answer questions and engage in discussions.

As the 2024 United States presidential election draws closer, the GOP debate offers a crucial platform for the candidates to connect with the voters and articulate their vision for the country. With the absence of Donald Trump, it remains to be seen how the dynamics of the debate will unfold and what impact it will have on the 2024 United States presidential election. Stay tuned for more updates as the story continues to unfold.
