Tony Medlin, a name synonymous with dedication and service within the Chicago Bears organization, was recently celebrated for his outstanding contributions. The Calahan Foundation, recognizing his impact both on and off the field, awarded Medlin the “Give a Hand Out to Give a Hand Up” athletic award during their 15th Annual Celebration of Giving Scholarship Benefit Gala.

Medlin’s journey with the Bears began in 1987, and he has been the head equipment manager since 1997. His role, however, extends far beyond managing gear. He has become a pillar of support and a mentor to countless players, fostering an environment of growth and camaraderie. His influence is particularly notable in the case of Devin Hester, the legendary return specialist, who, like many others, has benefited from Medlin’s guidance.

The award ceremony, held at the Tinley Park Convention Center on December 2, 2023, was not just a recognition of Medlin’s professional achievements but also a celebration of his personal virtues. His compassion, work ethic, and ability to inspire those around him stem from the values instilled by his mother, Parthenia, during his upbringing in Hope Mills, N.C.
