Undefeated Eagles Remain Work in Progress Following Tough Overtime Win Over Commanders

The Philadelphia Eagles remained undefeated on Sunday, but they showed that they are still a work in progress in their 24-21 overtime win over the Washington Commanders.

The Eagles turned the ball over three times and were penalized 10 times for 90 yards against the Commanders. They also struggled to run the ball, gaining just 71 yards on 22 carries.

Despite their shortcomings, the Eagles were able to win the game because of their strong defense and their ability to make big plays on offense. The defense forced three turnovers, including a game-clinching interception by safety Darius Slay in overtime. The offense was led by quarterback Jalen Hurts, who threw for 340 yards and two touchdowns.

Hurts threw touchdown passes to A.J. Brown and Miles Sanders, and he also ran for a touchdown. Slay’s interception came with less than a minute to play in overtime.

The Commanders were led by quarterback Taylor Heinicke, who threw for 274 yards and a touchdown. Heinicke also ran for a touchdown.

The Eagles’ defense was able to hold the Commanders scoreless in the fourth quarter and overtime.

Hurts Acknowledges Room for Improvement

“We’re still a work in progress,” Hurts said after the game. “We’re making mistakes, but we’re learning from them. We’re just trying to get better each week.”

Hurts’ assessment was echoed by head coach Nick Sirianni.

“We’re not where we want to be yet,” Sirianni said. “We made too many mistakes today. But we found a way to win, and that’s what counts.

Experts Weigh In

NFL analysts also agreed that the Eagles are a good team with room for improvement.

“The Eagles are a legitimate contender,” ESPN analyst Dan Orlovsky said. “But they need to clean up some of the mistakes.”

“The Eagles have a lot of talent on both sides of the ball,” NFL Network analyst Brian Baldinger said. “But they need to find a way to run the ball more effectively.”

Eagles Face Tough Test in Week 7

The Eagles will have a chance to prove themselves in Week 7 when they host the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday Night Football. The Cowboys are 5-1 and are one of the favorites to win the NFC East.

If the Eagles want to remain undefeated and improve their chances of winning the division, they will need to clean up their mistakes and play their best game of the season.
